FLIP (Families Leaning in Play)

FLIP provides a variety of services to increase child and parent/caregiver community-based early learning programs for children 0 to 5 and their families. This FREE program is for Sutter County residents only. Funded by Sutter County Children and Families Commission.


General Session Descriptions

Sessions meet weekly together parent/caregiver and child will learn hands on skills to build toward school readiness. Playing, exploring and creating together with topics focused on a variety of learning activities, which can continue at home. Participating families receive free learning materials.

At this time, Playzeum Yuba-Sutter is taking the FLIP(Families Learning in Play) program virtual for the next three weeks. This will happen through home activity kits and online videos featuring your FLIP teachers. 

The take home kits will be provided to each child registered for in FLIP class. Parents can drive up to the Playzeum at one of the dates and times listed below and a Playzeum staff members will deliver the kits to your car.

Here is the drive through schedule for picking up your home activity kits -
Wednesday, Mar 18 - 9:30 to 11:30
Thursday, March 19 - 9:30 to 11:30 and 5:30 to 6:30
Friday, March 20 - 9:30 to 11:30
Tuesday, March 24th - 9:30 to 11:30

Videos will be posted to on the Playzeum website and Facebook FLIP group page. They will post during the day and time that your flip class was scheduled to run. As they are posted we will send email reminders and additional resources. 

We have only temporarily closed our doors and will reopen for business once it is deemed safe to do so. We want you to know that we are monitoring this rapidly-changing situation extremely closely and take nothing more seriously than the health and safety of our community – especially it’s children.

Parent - Infant Play
A safe, nurturing, play-based environment designed to encourage infants to become attentive, active and aware of others.

Toddler Music

Exploring rhythm, rhyme, singing, dancing and sensory experiences in a shorter session. Perfect for lap sitters, crawlers, beginning walkers and busy toddlers.

Creative Arts

Creative art plays an integral role in encouraging children to imagine and experience the world from new and multiple perspectives. 

This class has a focus on visual art, story telling, introduction of music, social connections, movement and dramatic play.

School Ready

Literacy, Math and Science

Parents/caregivers and children will be learning hands on skills to build toward school readiness.

Expanding listening/speaking with language, interest in reading and promoting literacy through print and writing. Science experimenting, predicting, observation and investigation, and problem solving. As well as working on math and numeracy sequencing, patterns, spatial relationships, shapes, and measurement.

Nature and Movement


Building gross motor skills and creative movement ideas such as running, jumping, and dancing all
