FLIP (Families Leaning in Play)

FLIP provides a variety of services to increase child and parent/caregiver community-based early learning programs for children 0 to 5 and their families. This FREE program is for Sutter County residents only. Funded by Sutter County Children and Families Commission.


General Session Descriptions

Sessions meet weekly together parent/caregiver and child will learn hands on skills to build toward school readiness. Playing, exploring and creating together with topics focused on a variety of learning activities, which can continue at home. Participating families receive free learning materials.


RIE stands for “Resources for Infant Educarers” and is often known as Respectful Parenting. RIE was brought to the U.S. by infant-development expert,

Magda Gerber in 1978.

Parent - Toddler Play
Time to explore in a safe, challenging and inviting space with other children at the same stage of development.

Parent - Infant Play
A safe, nurturing, play-based environment designed to encourage infants to become attentive, active and aware of others.

Toddler Music

Exploring rhythm, rhyme, singing, dancing and sensory experiences in a shorter session. Perfect for lap sitters, crawlers, beginning walkers and busy toddlers.

Creative Arts

Creative art plays an integral role in encouraging children to imagine and experience the world from new and multiple perspectives. 

This class has a focus on visual art, story telling, introduction of music, social connections, movement and dramatic play.

School Ready

Literacy, Math and Science

Parents/caregivers and children will be learning hands on skills to build toward school readiness.

Expanding listening/speaking with language, interest in reading and promoting literacy through print and writing. Science experimenting, predicting, observation and investigation, and problem solving. As well as working on math and numeracy sequencing, patterns, spatial relationships, shapes, and measurement.

Nature and Movement


Building gross motor skills and creative movement ideas such as running, jumping, and dancing all

through active play, music and movement songs and creative movement.
