FLIP (Families Leaning in Play)

FLIP provides a variety of services to increase child and parent/caregiver community-based early learning programs for children 0 to 5 and their families. This program is for Sutter County residents only.

Funded by Sutter County Children and Families Commission.


General Session Descriptions

Sessions meet weekly together parent/caregiver and child will learn hands on skills to build toward school readiness. Playing, exploring and creating together with topics focused on a variety of learning activities, which can continue at home.   

A $20 fee for learning materials for the 18 classes, non refundable.

FLIP Infant Play Classes

RIE stands for “Resources for Infant Educarers” and is often known as Respectful Parenting. RIE was brought to the U.S. by infant-development expert, Magda Gerber in 1978.

A safe, nurturing, play-based environment designed to encourage infants to become attentive, active and aware of others.

Thursdays, Jan  28 to May 13

School Ready

Literacy, Math and Science

Parents/caregivers and children will be learning hands on skills to build toward school readiness.

Expanding listening/speaking with language, interest in reading and promoting literacy through print and writing. Science experimenting, predicting, observation and investigation, and problem solving. As well as working on math and numeracy sequencing, patterns, spatial relationships, shapes, and measurement.

FLIP Toddler Play Classes

Time to explore in a safe, challenging and inviting space with other children at the same stage of development.

Creative Arts

Creative art plays an integral role in encouraging children to imagine and experience the world from new and multiple perspectives.  This class has a focus on visual art, story telling, introduction of music, social connections, movement and dramatic play.

Thursdays, Feb 25 to July 1

As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, education program can be kept safe for child, caregivers and staff when reopening by following the proper protocol, including the following: Playzeum will be following CDC guidelines to slow the spread of COVID as best we can. This includes (but is not limited to) all guidelines for:

-  Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, please keep personal belongs in your car as much as possible 

-  Health screenings at entry, temperatures will be taken

-  Wash hands, before coming into the building 

-  Fewer children and staff in each room, only one adult can attend with each child in a FLIP class .

-  Use outdoor spaces whenever possible

-  All adults wearing masks when indoors and/or social distancing isn't feasible


- Rooms and playgrounds will not be shared and will be sanitized between groups.


We can not promise your child will not be exposed to COVID at Playzeum. We are doing our best and you must decide if sending participating is worth the risk.
